2024 Youth World Championships
This year’s Youth World Championships will take place in Guiyang, China, from August 22-31, 2024. Every year, CEC support a team of 40-50 athletes attending in Speed, Boulder, and/or Lead. Qualifications for this event takes places at Youth Nationals.

Frédéric Desgranges
Fred is a passionate coach with over 30 years’ experience in climbing and coaching. Since 2019, he has been coaching the Canadian junior team with patience and organization. As co-head coach, he will strive to build a close-knit team, ready to perform both physically and mentally at the world championships this summer. Outside of his coaching role, Fred explores the most remote locations for traditional climbing.

Paide Boklaschuk
Paige is a Calgary Climbing Centre coach and climber who has represented Canada on the international youth and senior circuit. She is completing her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, where she has been involved in climbing physiology and sport policy research. Paige serves as the Alberta Climbing Association Performance chair. She loves supporting athletes in building resiliency and self-awareness through the pursuit of their competitive goals.

2024 Olympic Qualifier Series
New in 2024, the Olympic Qualifier Series will be composed of two events: Shanghai, China, and Budapest, Hungary. The two-part series will be an important step in determining which athletes qualify in BMX freestyle, breaking, skateboarding and Sport Climbing for Paris 2024. Canada has qualified 3 athletes for the OQS: Alannah Yip, Oscar Baudrand, and Sean McColl.
Dallas Mix
To support these athletes, CEC has appointed Dallas Mix. Dallas is the Head Coach for the Calgary Climbing Centre Performance Team. He spent 6 years teaching for the faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Alberta where he received his Masters of Coaching through the faculty of Kinesiology. Dallas entered his graduate degree halfway into his career as a climbing coach, and as he was learning in the classroom he was immediately able to experiment with and implement concepts directly into his practice. Dallas has joined Team Canada at the 2023 Pan-American Games, after being the CEC Technical Coach since 2022.

2024 Speed Development Program
As our Speed Athletes continue to compete at the World Cups, CEC will transition into a Development Cycle for Speed, leading toward the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
Libor Hroza
Born in the Czech Republic, Libor has competed at the World Level in Lead and in Speed for the past 10 years. He is a former World Record holder in Speed with multiple World Cup podiums to his credit, including two time European champion in speed climbing and a 2nd place at the World Championships in 2012. Libor is a certified Strength and Fitness instructor and a Climbing instructor. Libor has coached athletes at various levels in all 3 disciplines for more than 8 years. He will lead the 2024 RBC Training Ground program, as well as other speed development program.
